Launching

This is a bookmark in the process of building The Family Collaborative. Months ago, the name of the practice came to me in a meeting with my boss, supervisor, mentor and safe base, Dr. Courtney Rennicke, at Rennicke & Associates. At that time, the name of the practice created a glimmer of what I now envision as I wrestled with anxiety (can I do this?), guilt (do I deserve to do this?), and sparks of excitement (this feels energizing!) about starting my own practice.

Five years earlier, I started at R&A as a post doc, eager to learn Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and tentatively willing to try Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy on for size. In the interim, Dr. Rennicke and my colleagues built the safety for me to struggle, to think critically, and to find my own voice and way of being within these modalities. These two models provided an attachment-based, experiential framework not only to work with my clients but to also learn from in supervision. And here is the tricky part - this is both what has gotten me to the point of launching and what makes it so hard. I can feel myself stretching upwards, opening outwards, and this is expansive and a bit scary.

I am so grateful, Courtney, for the safety, security, support, and maybe even the shove I needed to start The Family Collaborative. I intend to provide the care and confidence that I have found regulating, affirming, and transforming in my experience at R&A.

For those of you that are just meeting me here or are thinking about coming in - welcome.
